The seminar was opened by Dr Monique Eloit (Deputy Director General of the OIE), Dr Romano Marabelli (Delegate of Italy to the OIE) and Dr Stefano Cinotti (General Director of IZSLER).
The programme included presentations on the OIE and the work of the OIE Animal Production Food Safety Working Group, salmonellosis in poultry, zoonotic parasites, the role of Reference Laboratories in Animal Production Food Safety, and case studies on the management of a food safety crisis and/or a zoonotic disease crisis. Representatives from Germany and Italy presented their countries’ experiences in implementing the OIE standards. For most of the participants, it was the first training that they had received in their position as an OIE National Focal Point for Animal Production Food Safety.
During the seminar and at the closing session, participants made very favourable comments about the content of the seminar, its format, organisation and usefulness for their professional activities and further communication with the OIE.
