6th Standing Group of Experts on Rabies for Europe

The sixth meeting of the Standing Group of Experts on Rabies in Europe under the GF-TADs umbrella was held in Brussels, Belgium on the 11th of July 2024 as a hybrid event.

 

Rabies experts and representatives from member countries underscored the critical importance of coordinating Oral Rabies Vaccination (ORV) campaigns between neighbouring countries. They also emphasized the need to enhance passive surveillance, by increasing the number of suspected animals sampled. These measures were agreed as essential for consolidating the significant progress made over the years in the effort to eradicate rabies.

 

The SGE Rabies Secretariat thanks all participants for their valuable contributions and active participation to continue the joint work towards eradicating rabies from Europe.

 

It was agreed to hold the next meeting, SGE RAB7, in person and Members were invited to propose the next location for welcoming the group.
