The WOAH Networking Breakfast with Agricultural and Veterinary Attachés took place on 9 July 2026 at the WOAH Sub‑Regional Representation in Brussels, bringing together representatives from 9 WOAH Members to exchange updates on ongoing regional and global activities. The meeting served to reinforce the dialogue channel between the Sub‑Regional Representation and diplomatic missions, ensuring regular communication and timely information-sharing on WOAH priorities.

Attendees were first briefed on recent milestones, including the 93rd WOAH General Session held in May 2026 in Paris, and on major upcoming engagements, notably the 32nd Conference of the Regional Commission for Europe, scheduled for September 2026 in Latvia.

Building on this overview, the meeting then addressed a wide range of regional developments: preparations for the Regional Conference in Riga, the presentation of WOAH’s 8th Strategic Plan with its renewed focus on veterinary public health and the EU‑funded regional workplan, outcomes from recent animal welfare events, key messages from the Regional Workshop on Biological Threats, and updates from the Wildlife Health Programme. Delegates were also briefed on forthcoming GF‑TADs activities, notably the Standing Group of Experts on Rabies meeting meeting in September, as well as recent communication achievements and the launch of a new periodic news account to support Member engagement.

Finally, during the discussion, participants highlighted several practical needs to be considered for future activities, including maintaining more frequent exchanges with the Sub‑Regional Representation, receiving timely invitations and information on upcoming WOAH events, and ensuring easier access to meeting reports, recordings and logistical details.

In addition, attendees took part in a short survey to identify which upcoming WOAH events are of highest priority for their delegations. The results indicated a particular interest in the Regional Conference, the Seminar on Risk, Disinformation and Misinformation Communication, and the Online Meeting of the Network of National Contact Points on Long‑Distance Transport.

The event helped strengthen the dialogue channel between the WOAH Sub‑Regional Representation in Brussels and diplomatic missions. Delegations emphasized the importance of maintaining this exchange on a regular basis, supported by timely updates that enhance their engagement in WOAH’s work and promote cooperation among Veterinary Services across the region.
