On 5 December 2024, the II Webinar of the WOAH National Focal Points for Aquatic Animals in Europe took place online, aligned with the objectives outlined in the WOAH Aquatic Animal Health Strategy 2021-2025. The event brought together European focal points for aquatic animal health.

This webinar is part of a broader initiative to establish a cohesive European network. The goal is to enhance the coordination of actions and strategies for controlling aquatic animal diseases, focusing on infectious and non-infectious pathologies. Special attention was given to their clinical and anatomopathological characteristics and the technical tools required for accurate diagnosis.

Under the guidance of Dr. Mario Latini and Dr. Mereke Taitubayev of the WOAH Sub-Regional Office for Central Asia, the webinar featured presentations by international experts. These speakers shared the latest insights into fish diseases, highlighting diagnostic methods and management approaches.

The webinar served as a significant platform for advancing aquatic animal health. Participants gained valuable information on effective approaches to managing aquatic animal diseases, deepened their understanding of the strengths and challenges in controlling fish diseases, and strengthened connections among focal point activities.

This initiative underscores WOAH’s commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across its networks, ensuring more robust and unified strategies to safeguard aquatic animal health in Europe.
