MOSCOW, September 22/. The OIE Regional Representation for Europe in Moscow in cooperation with the country offices of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Tripartite Plus partners and members of One Health Mechanism in Europe, will organize a joint webinar on Rabies, to mark World Rabies Day on September 28, 2021. It is the third consecutive year when a specific event is organized about this important zoonotic disease, in close cooperation with national health counterparts.
The purpose of the webinar titled “The Global Anti-Rabies Efforts: Human and Animal Vaccines and Eradication Programs” is to contribute to the elimination of Rabies in animal populations in Russia and neighboring countries and to the protection of humans from this fatal disease, as well as to feature the One Health approach through the prism of this year’s World Rabies Day theme: “Rabies: Facts, not Fear”.
Prominent European and Russian experts will share their knowledge, and present their experience with Rabies eradication, as well as results of their research: Dr Hervé Bourhy from the Pasteur Institute (Paris, France), Dr Florence Cliquet from the OIE Reference Laboratory for Rabies (Nancy, France), Dr Artem Metlin and Dr Anton Karaulov from the Russian Federal Center for Animal Health (ARRIAH, Vladimir, Russia) and others.
Representatives of the leading One Health International organizations, — the OIE, FAO, WHO and UNEP, and national authorities and research centers from Russia, including the OIE collaborating centers, will deliver their statements.
