14th meeting of the Regional Core Group for Europe

The RCG-14 meeting took place as a videoconference hosted by the OIE Regional Representation in Moscow (RCG Secretariat). Dr Maris Balodis, President of the OIE Regional Commission for Europe and Delegate of Latvia, chaired the meeting.

All but one Members were present as well as observers from the European Commission, OIE Headquarters, OIE Regional and Sub Regional Representations (Moscow, Brussels, and Nur-Sultan).

The agenda of the meeting was focused on the organization of the 88th OIE General Session (GS) with specific attention paid to the preparation of the Regional Commission meeting and endorsement of its agenda, scheduled for the first day of GS (24th of May), namely:

• Outcomes of the 29th Regional Conference in Europe, and presentation of the technical item (with a questionnaire) selected by the European OIE Delegates, for the upcoming 30th Regional Conference (2022)
• OIE Animal Welfare platform for Europe – 3rd Action Plan (2021-2023)
• Selection of three strategic topics of global interest to be addressed by the OIE through various means of communication (e.g. scientific review, newsletter, seminars, workshops).
• The final agenda of the meeting of the OIE Regional Commission for Europe.
• Testing of the zoom poll to be used during the Regional Commission for Europe.

In addition, Dr Taitubaev, OIE Subregional representative in Nur-Sultan, provided an overview of the One Health Mechanism for Europe created on April 23^rd.

The next RCG meeting is planned to be held in December 2021, and it is suggested that it can take place in Moscow in a hybrid format (RCG Secretariat to host).
