The main objective of the second meeting of the Regional Core Group (RCG2) was to prepare for the meeting of the Regional Commission of Europe to be held during the 85th OIE General Session. More specifically, it aimed at:
- further discuss the Regional Core Group Terms of Reference and the regional Work Plan Framework for Europe;
- discuss the content of the OIE Code Chapters selected to during the RCG1 (see above) and prepare some common positions to be voiced during the OIE 85th General Session on behalf of the 53 countries of Europe;
- select a list of possible Technical Items for the 28th Confernece of the Regional Commission for Europe (September 2018) and 87th OIE General Session (May 2019);
- discuss financial and human resources’ needs and gaps to implement the regional Work Plan Framework for Europe;
- discuss the renovation of the OIE Regional Website.
After the RCG2 meeting, the Terms of Reference and the regional Work Plan Framework for Europe, as well as the list of selected Items for the 28th Conference of the Regional Commission for Europe and 87th OIE General Session were circulated to all 53 Member Countries of Europe for comments.
The 3 documents were translated in Russian thank to the in-kind support of Latvia.
