Following the successful model of the Standing Groups of Experts (SGEs) established for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), African Swine Fever (ASF), Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), and Rabies, a Standing Group of Experts on Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and Sheep and Goats Pox (SPGP) has been established under the GF-TADs Europe framework.
The decision to establish this SGE was taken during the 1st GF-TADs Europe Conference, held in Belgrade in September 2025, reflecting the increasing regional importance of coordinated prevention, preparedness, and control of transboundary diseases affecting small ruminants.
The 1st online meeting of the Standing Group of Experts on PPR and SPGP was successfully organised on 5 March 2026, marking the official launch of the group’s technical activities.
